Ptolemy: Aries

Ptolemy lists a number of alignments involving Capella.
In this chapter, we use the first of these as an excuse to explore the stars of Perseus. We argue that the story of Perseus and Andromeda was placed in the sky by the Bronze Age Greeks of Mycenae and the Argolid.
This leads to an intriguing speculation regarding Algol, bolstered by a recent analysis of Egyptian astrological records.
