Ptolemy: Aquarius / Pisces

Our final chapter illustrates a point we’ve raised before: Ptolemy tends to focus alignments on particular bright stars.

Four of his final alignments point to Fomalhaut, the bright star at the end of the water splashing from the Urn of Aquarius. Star in the mouth of the fish, but not of the fish. (Or so we read it.)

Lines involving Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

Alignments illustrating the difference between the lines of Hipparchus and those of Ptolemy.

With this, we bring our investigations to a close.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our rambling history of the stars of ancient Greece.
