We’ll admit that this isn’t one of our favorite chapters.
But if you enjoy committee meetings, you’re in for a treat!
There have been moments in the crafting of these pages where we’ve simply had to shrug our shoulders and acknowledge that the stars are the stars are the stars, and some corners of the sky are just a bit more interesting than others to a naked-eye observer.
We do present images suggesting that Ptolemy’s alignments, if carefully followed down the centuries, could have revealed the movement of Arcturus before Halley reported it in 1718. (See LINK for a copy of his report). So there’s that. But did anybody pay attention to Ptolemy’s alignments?
